ABBOTSFORD -- Raymond Andrew Wiersma, 81,
of Abbotsford, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at the Golden
LivingCenter-Continental Manor in Abbotsford.
Funeral services are pending with the
Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford.

ABBOTSFORD -- Raymond Andrew Wiersma, 81,
of Abbotsford, passed away Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at the Golden
LivingCenter-Continental Manor in Abbotsford.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m.
Monday, Aug. 24 at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. The Rev. Mark
Neumann will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford, and at the
church Monday one hour prior to service.
Burial will be in Abbotsford Public
Cemetery with military rites conducted by Colby VFW Post
2227.
Raymond was born June 26, 1928, in Lake
Geneva, to Andrew and Marcia (Wickham) Wiersma. He received his
education at the Kingsley One Room County School in Woodstock,
Ill., and graduated from Alden High School. He married the love of
his life, the former Beverly Henricks, on April 10, 1954, at Faith
Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights, Ill. He served his country by
enlisting in the Army, where he served from 1955 to 1956.
Raymond is lovingly survived by his wife,
Beverly; and their children, Polly Pacewicz of Palatine, Ill., and
Daniel (Terri) Wiersma of Colby. He was the proud grandpa of Howie
Brewer, Heather (Eric) Kroliczek, Emily Pacewicz, Jake (Jen)
Pacewicz, Sarah Wiersma and Zackary Wiersma; and one
great-grandson, Sam. He is further survived by his sister, Martha
(Lawrence) Schmidt of Colby.
He was preceded in death by his daughter
Pamela Brewer; and his brother, Wilbur Wiersma.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Zion Lutheran Church in Colby.
