Hermann, Richard (16 June 1922 - 25 Aug.
2009)
ABBOTSFORD -- Richard "Dick" Herrmann,
87, of Abbotsford, passed away at the Golden
LivingCenter-Continental Manor in Abbotsford, on Tuesday, Aug. 25,
2009.
Funeral services will be at the First
United Church of Christ Church in Colby at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug.
29. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix will officiate. Visitation will be at
the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford on Friday, Aug. 28
from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and at the church Saturday one hour prior to
service. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery in the town of
Colby immediately after the funeral service.
Richard was born June 16, 1922, to Alfred
and Elsie (Volkmar) Herrmann on the family farm in the township of
Colby. He graduated from Colby High School in 1940 and went on to
the University of Madison and completed the Farm Short Course in
1941. He married his loving wife of 50 years, Winifred Martens, on
Nov. 5, 1958 in Pine City, Minn. Together, they farmed in the
township of Colby on the Century Farm.
They are lifetime members at the First
United Church of Christ where he was the last member of the 1941
Building Committee and the past president of the church council. He
was very active in his community. He is a past board member for the
Harmony Co-Operative, former trustee of Colby Memorial Cemetery,
former supervisor of the town of Colby, past member of the
Abbotsford Sportsmen Club, and current member of the Chequamegon
Bird Club.
Richard was an avid hunter, enjoyed
fishing and logging. He loved spending time with his family and
woodworking.
Richard is lovingly survived by his wife,
Winifred Herrmann, of Abbotsford; and his children, Larry Hass of
Colby, Jane (David) Pescinski of Colby, and Lois (Jeff) Fischer of
Colby. He was the proud grandpa of Carrie (Ernie) Kibbel, Kim
(Jason) Kundinger, Nathan (Jodi) Hass, Tara Pescinski, Brandon
Pescinski, Heidi Pescinski, Caroline Fische and Mary Fischer; and
five great-grandchildren, Karly, Carson, Zachary, Claire and Sarah.
He is further survived by his sister, Verna (Eugene) Blair of
Abbotsford; a brother, Glenn Herrmann of Colby; a sister-in-law,
Virgene Martens of Stratford; and brother-in-law, Norbert (Bernie)
Martens of Unity.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Hass; and his sister, Evelyn VenRooy.
