Norbert Joseph Noltner was born at
Westport, Dane County, Wisconsin, July 2, 1897. He attended the
rural school in that community until he was 14. When his parents
moved to the township of Vienna, Dane County, he continued his
schoolwork in the Union High School of De Forest, four miles from
his home. He graduated in 1918. After graduating, he assisted his
father at farmwork until the spring of 1919 when he accepted a job
in a meat market in Sun Prairie, which he held a year. Next he
followed his trade in Madison markets for four years. Then he
purchased a market in Whitewater, and conducted it for four years.
Dispensing of the business, he worked another year at his trade in
Madison, then he entered into partnership with Herman Stehr, and
conducted a meat market in Neillsville close to a year. Disposing
of their business, he again followed his trade as journeyman,
working two years in Madison, and several months in La Crosse.
Recently he again entered the meat business as a boss butcher, by
purchasing the Harry Wenzel Market, on South Central Avenue in this
city.
Mr. Noltner was married to Miss Martha
Filitz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Filitz of Neillsville, in
Winona, Minnesota, June 20, 1927. Her father died two years ago.
Her mother resides in the town of Levis, Clark County. His parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Noltner, now reside in the town of Fitchburg,
Dane County.
Fraternally, he is affiliated with the Whitewater Blue Lodge of Masons and the Whitewater Knights of Pythius Lodge. Politically, he is Independent. His hobby is fishing.
