Herman Ferdinand Strathman was born in
the town of Hull, Marathon County, March 28, 1898. He attended the
public schools in Colby, which is within a few miles of the
community of his birth. His first place of employment after
finishing school was the Colby Cheese Box Factory. Several months
after taking this job he changed to a job with a Colby bakery,
where he remained about three years working as a deliveryman during
the first half of that period, and as an apprentice baker during
the latter half. In May, 1919, after following his trade for six
months in Milwaukee, he entered the employ of the Wright Bakery in
this city. He continued with it four years, except six months spent
in a bakery in Neillsville. During the past five years he has been
a baker in the Vienna Bakery in the city. He is a son of Mr. and
Mrs. William Strathman of Colby.
Mr. Strathman was married to Miss Agnes
Hengle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hengle, of Rolling Stone,
Minnesota, in a Lutheran church, in Colby, September 20,
1921.
In 1918 he was a member of the Colby Home Guard. Politically, he is Independent. His hobbies are hunting and fishing.
