Irving Floyd Dow, son of Mrs. Cora Dow,
Chili, was born in the town of Fremont, Clark County, March 12,
1897. He attended the public school near Chili, and assisted his
father at farmwork until the death of his father in 1912. He then
managed the farm for his mother. In 1919 he went to Fargo, North
Dakota, where he spent four years working as a cook and waiter in
restaurants. Returning to Chili he worked a few months at the
carpenter trade on his own. Then he accepted employment with the
Krasin Brothers, building contractors, remaining with them for two
years. Next, he worked on the construction of the Purdy School
addition, and the Marshfield Clinic building, in the employ of
Contractor Molzahn of La Crosse about a year. Leaving this job, he
followed the carpenter trade a few months again on his own. Three
years ago he entered the employ of Van’s Service Garage, now
the Reif Services Garage, where he has since been
identified.
Mr. Dow was married to Miss Eldora
Osborn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orie Osborn of Greenwood, by the
Reverend Fred Jordan, now of Rice Lake, in the parsonage of the
Methodist church, six years ago in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Dow are
the parents of two children: Geraldine 5 and Joyce 2
½.
Politically, he is Independent. His hobbies are hunting and fishing.
