Walter Henry Lautenbach was born in Plymouth, Sheboygan County, November 23, 1885. Graduating from the Plymouth High School at the age of 16 years, he learned the cheese-maker trade in a factory four miles west of that city, where he was employed seven months. He spent seven years as a cheese grader in a wholesale house in Plymouth, which was owned by the A. C. Dow Company; and four years later was sold to C. W. Starrett. Next he supplemented his education with a commercial course of study in the Spencerian Busines College in Milwaukee, at the end of which he accepted a position as foreman in the Blodgett and McCready Cheese House in this city in 1909. Mr. McReady withdrew from the firm a few years later. The business has since been known under then name of Blodgett Cheese, Butter and Egg Company. In 1912 Mr. Lautenbach resigned from this position to re-enter the employ of Mr. Starrett and while with him three years, established and managed branch houses at Neillsville, Granton and Edgar. Leaving Mr. Starrett’s employ, which was coincident with the discontinuation of the Starrett business, Mr. Lautenbach went with the P. J. Schaefer Cheese Company of this city and continued as manager of the Neillsville and Granton branch houses, which were purchased by the Schaefer Company. The Edgar branch house was purchased by the Pauly and Pauly Company of Manitowoc. After the Schaefer Company sold the Neillsville and Granton houses, he was assigned to the position of fieldman. Since leaving the Schaefer Company in 1920, he has been with the Blodgett Cheese, Butter and Egg Company two years as a fieldman; conducted a wholesale cheese and butter and egg commission business on his own account in Milwaukee two and one-half years; with the Blum Brothers Cheese Box Factory of this city four years as sales manager; and with the Damrow Brothers Company, Fond du Lac, manufacturers of cheese factory and creamery equipment, as a traveling salesman since November 17, last year. 
 

He was married to Miss Marie Hummel, of Watertown, Wisconsin, in a Reformed church in Plymouth, November 3, 1910. The ceremony was performed by the Reverend H. Beisner. Mr. and Mrs. Lautenbach’s children are: Cevilla 16, Ruth 12 and Walter Jr. 6. 
 

He is an ex-charter member of the Plymouth Aerie of Eagles, organized 23 years ago. Politically, he is Independent. His hobbies are music and outdoor sports.
