Herman Daniels was born in
Munchen-Gladbach, Rhineland, Germany, on April 22, 1861. He has two
sons and a brother in the Catholic priesthood. Leaving school, he
worked six years in a picture printing office, and 13 years in a
dye factory in the community of his birth. When he was 33, he and
Mrs. Daniels and their four children immigrated to this country and
settled on a farm at Hewitt. Since retiring from farming in 1915,
he and his wife have made their home with their sons who are
priests.
Mr. Daniels was married to Miss Theresa
Beckers in Munchen-Gladbach, October 15, 1886. They have seven
children: Herman Daniels Jr.; Sister Weinanda (Barbara), Mankato,
Minnesota; Mrs. Leo Stieber, Wausau; Father A. E. Daniels,
Cazenovia; Father William Daniels, Greenwood; Gerhard Daniels,
Wausau; and Theresa Daniels, Norwalk. Since July last year, Mr. and
Mrs. Daniels have been staying with their son in Greenwood, before
that with Father A. E. Daniels, at Middle Ridge and Rozellville.
His brother in the priesthood is Father Weinand Daniels, 24 years
pastor of the Marathon City Catholic church.
Mr. Daniels is a former trustee of the Hewitt Catholic church. Politically, he is a Democrat. His hobbies are hunting and fishing.
