Arthur John Gehrman, son of Mr. and Mrs.
B. J. Gehrman, Mellen, Wisconsin, was born at Neillsville, Clark
County, Wisconsin, April 8, 1904. His parents moved to Hudson, St.
Croix County, Wisconsin, when he was three years old, and seven
years later they located at Mellen.
He began his education in Hudson and was
graduated from the Mellen High School in 1923. Studying agriculture
one semester in the Pennsylvania State College, he transferred to
the University of Wisconsin, where he finished the short and middle
courses in agriculture, graduating from the latter in 1926, since
which time he has been in the steady employ of his alma mater.
During the summer of 1926, he served as herdsman at the Ashland
Branch Station and later as agronomist there. In July 1928 he was
appointed as agronomist for the Spooner Station, where he served in
that capacity until March 15, when he was transferred to the local
station. During the summers of 1923 and 1924, he served as
assistant leader for the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs in
Ashland County.
He is affiliated with the Wisconsin Experiment Association and several school societies. His hobbies are hunting and fishing and good reading.
