Herman Neumann was born in the town of
Unity, Clark County, Wisconsin, February 23, 1878. He attended a
public school in the community of his birth, a Lutheran school in
Spencer, and helped on the home farm until he was married. He then
purchased his father-in-law’s farm, in the town of Brighton,
and engaged in the farming occupation, which he has followed there
since.
The organizations, which Mr. Neumann
heads, are the Equity Local, the Livestock Shipping Association and
the Cooperative Produce Company. In addition to these offices, he
is a director and agent of the Juneau Farmers Mutual Cyclone
Insurance Company of Juneau and the Farmers Mutual Automobile
Insurance Company of Madison. In cheese manufacturing circles he
formerly was the secretary of the Korth Corner Cheese Factory in
the town of Brighton, Marathon County.
Seventy-five acres of the farm are under
plow, the rest in pasture and woodland. It has a full set of modern
buildings and machinery. The machinery includes a tractor and
threshing outfit. Principal among his livestock are 32 head of high
grade Holsteins and four fine horses. He is a son of Frank Neumann,
Clintonville.
His wife formerly was Miss Anna
Schwantes, town of Brighton. They were married in the Lutheran
church in Spencer, October 30, 1892. Their children are: Walter,
26, Ruth, 16, Maynard, 13, Raymond, 8, Robert, 5, and Mrs. A. W.
Bisner, 24, Marshfield.
Politically, he is Non-Partisan. His hobbies are motoring and sightseeing.
