Paul Gustave Pirwitz was born on a farm
in the town of Grant, Clark County, January 18, 1891. He attended
the public school in the town of Grant, and the Lutheran Parochial
School in Neillsville. After leaving school, he worked on his
father’s farm until 23 years of age, when he took a course of
training in an automobile school in Kansas City, Missouri. He then
worked in North Dakota and Washington at his trade of automobile
mechanic about a year, after which he returned to Neillsville,
where he spent about six months. He then came to Marshfield, in the
year 1915, to accept a job as auto repair man with the Marshfield
Hardware and Auto Company. Six months later, he entered into
partnership with Max Wegner, to engage in the auto repair and sales
business, with which he has been identified since.
Mr. Pirwitz was married to Miss Ella
Ehrlich, of Marshfield, in Marshfield, on January 30, 1918. They
have three children: Dorothy 8, Raymond 6, and Ruth 3.
He is a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church of this city. Politically, he is Independent. His hobbies are hunting and fishing.
