Carl George Reichert

Carl George Reichert was born in Granton, Clark County, April 19, 1885, and attended the graded school in that village, and the high school in Neillsville. At the age of 18 he left for Chicago, and worked there four years at artistic decorating, sign painting and chemical compounding. During spare time he studied chemistry. In 1907 he left with an expert mining engineer for Alaska, where he spent eight months doing landscape drawing for a prospectus for the Alaskan Mining Company. Returning to Chicago, he spent three years in the employ of a large decorating concern as a compounding chemist. He then augmented his education with two years of study in chemistry and salesmanship in the Marquette Institute in Chicago. He won, for high scholastic standing, two gold medals and a life membership in the One Million Dollar Club, sponsored by the Chicago Title and Trust Company. He was one of only seven out of 367 students, to receive that honor. From 1913 to 1916 he was engaged in the chemical manufacturing business in Chicago. He then returned to Granton to establish a chemical manufacturing business, but before he succeeded in doing so fully, he was called into the government service as a chemist. He was the first of 2,860 registered chemists to receive such a summons on account of the war. Four weeks after reporting for duty at Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was transferred to Washington, D.C. There he was stationed until the armistice was signed, doing research work in the Bureau of Standards. After the war, he returned to Granton, and completed the organization of his chemical business. In the spring of 1920 he moved his plant to this city. In 1926 Mr. Reichert successfully passed the district board examination in St. Paul, Minnesota, for recognition from the Bureau of Technology at Washington, D.C. Now he is a registered bonded manufacturing chemist. 
 

He is a member of the Druggist’s Research Bureau, the American Perfumer’s Association, and the Chemical Markets Association, all headquartering in New York City. 
 

He was married to Miss Clara Kleist of Marshfield, August 24, 1924. 
 

Fraternally, he is affiliated with the Chicago Knights of Pythias, and the Marshfield United Commercial Travelers. Politically, he is Independent. His hobby is motoring.

Alvin Bismark Theodore Reichert

Alvin Bismark Theodore Reichert (the younger brother of Carl) was born 2 Mar 1888 to Gustave and Julia Reichert in the town of Grant, Clark, Wis. and died Sep 1986 in Janesville, Rock, Wis. He had grey eyes and light brown hair who grew into a tall, slender man who worked as a photographer (see #129) and furniture & Jewelry dealer in Granton, Wis.
