Fred Dankemyer, 307 West Sixth Street, was born in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, on December 7, 1881. His parents moved to Fremont, Clark County, when he was a year and one-half. After his school days were over, he assisted on his father’s farm until he was 17, after which he operated a portable sawmill and threshing outfit at various points in Clark County for nine years. Disposing of this equipment in 1911, he bought his father’s farm and operated it until 1919. During each fall while running this farm, he served as an engineer of threshing machines in the harvest fields in the vicinity of Ledgerwood, North Dakota. Next he conducted a restaurant, and pool and billiard parlor at Chili, two and one-half years, following which he moved to this city. Since coming to this city, he has followed carpenter work most of the time.

Mr. Dankemyer was married to Miss Lucille Fields of Fremont in this city in 1901. She died two and one-half years after her marriage. One son, Ervin, was born to them. He is a local auto mechanic. On March 28, 1906, Mr. Dankemyer was married to Miss Minnie Eibergen, also of Fremont, at Neillsville. They have two children: Howard, a radio expert in Milwaukee; and Freddie, bookkeeper at the Cloverland State Bank, Marshfield.

In Fremont, he served his township 11 years as assessor and 7 years as treasurer of School District No. 4. Fraternally he is affiliated with the Marshfield Owls. Politically, Mr. Dankemyer is a Republican. His hobbies are motoring and fishing.
