Ervin Simon Meissner was born in the town
of Little Black, Taylor County, Wisconsin, March 4, 1896. When he
was four his parents moved to Nasonville, Rock Township, Wood
County, where he has made his home since. He received his education
in a school one mile south of Nasonville and assisted on the home
farm until 1920, when, following the retirement of his father,
Charles Meissner, Rock Township, he took charge of the home place
on a lease and has conducted it since. Recently he closed a deal
for the purchase of an improved 120-acre farm five miles southwest
of Greenwood, on which he and family plan to move next summer. His
mother passed away in 1916.
The Greenwood place has a 36 X 76 foot
stone basement barn, built three years ago; a 12 x 35 foot cement
stave silo, built two years ago; and a fine two-story residence
that lacks only the interior finish of being completed. Eighty
acres of the land is under plow, the rest is in timber and pasture.
In cattle he is changing from Holsteins to Brown Swiss. His swine
are Poland Chinas, of which he has 22, and his chickens are White
Rocks. He also has four horses. In other equipment is a full set of
machinery except a tractor and thresher.
Mrs. Meissner formerly was Miss Margaret
Kass, town of Rock. They were married by Father A.J. Miller in the
Bakerville Catholic Church on April 13, 1920. They have four
children, Arnold 6, Hilbert 4, Lucille 2 and Mildred 5
months.
Politically, he is a Conservative Republican. His hobbies are hunting and fishing.
