Ray A. Prior, eldest son of Albert and
Julia Prior, was born in the town of Sherman, Clark County, on
October 8, 1883. His father was a civil war veteran and is now
deceased. When he was a small boy, he came to Loyal with his
parents, receiving his education in the public schools of that
village. For a number of years he was employed as clerk in the B.
W. Colby Store. In the year 19129 he purchased a general
merchandise store at Wauconda, Illinois, which he successfully
operated until 1926, when selling out his business he moved back to
Loyal. Soon after his arrival here he purchased a farm two miles
north of Loyal, which he rents.
He was married June 5, 1907, at Crystal
Lake, Illinois, to Miss Addie L. Colby. They have three sons:
Calvin, Norman and Robert; and two daughters; Ora Lee and Muriel,
all of Loyal.
He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and his lodge affiliations are Masonic and Eastern Star. Politically, he is a Republican. His hobby is farming.
