Irwin O. Gilbertson, Granton, was born April 29, 1897, in the town of Irving, Jackson County, near Black River Falls, and after completing an eighth grade course at the district school, took a two-year business course at a college in Ottawa, Illinois. He worked for two years as apprentice for the August Mattson Furniture and Undertaking Company at Black River Falls, after which he took a course in embalming at Milwaukee. Returning to Black River Falls, he engaged in business and two years later, in 1927, sold out and came to Granton.  
 

He was married April 8, 1922, to Miss Gertrude Ziebell, daughter of Fred and Anna (Roehl) Ziebell of Neillsville. They have four children: Erwin Jr., 6, Jane 5, Clarence 4 and Betty 2. Mr. Gilbertson’s parents are Emil and Mattie (Stanstadt) Gilbertson of Black River Falls.  
 

Fraternally, he is affiliated with the Granton Camp, Modern Woodmen of America, of which he is clerk; the Black River Falls Lodge No. 174, Free and Accepted Masons; the Black River Falls Lodge, Scandinavian American Fraternity. Politically, he is a progressive Republican. His hobby is baseball.
