Clarence A. Nelson was born at Waupaca,
on March 1, 1889. He attended the Waupaca schools and Marquette
University, Milwaukee, from which he graduated in 1912. He came to
Colby in 1920, purchasing the drug business from O. R. Briggs.
Previous to this he worked for two years in a drug store at
Chicago, Illinois, and three years at Superior. Mr. Nelsen is very
much interested in Boy Scout work and is Scout Master of Troop No.
1, Colby. He is a member of the Soldiers and Sailors Relief
Committee of Clark County, service officer of Legion Post No. 266,
member of the graded school board and secretary of the Colby Free
Library.
He was married to Miss Julia Nelson, at
Waupaca, October 17, 1916. They have five children: Marjory Ann,
Sara Louise, Clarence and Carl (twins) and Ronald.
Fraternally, he is a member of the Masonic Order. Politically, he is a Republican. His hobbies are flowers, Indian regalia and swimming.
