Victor Frane, who owns and operates a

50 years, was born March 16, 1877, at Fond du Lac, the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Frane. Five years later he came with his parents to
the vicinity of Romeo, where they settled on a farm. He attended
the rural school and assisted with farm work for a number of years,
after which he worked for four years as a cheese maker. In 1901 he
purchased an 80-acre farm near Colby and later added two other
eighties. His stock includes a herd of 27 purebred Guernsey cows,
18 head of young cattle and a flock of 40 White Orpinton chickens.
Four years ago he started a milk route in Colby, and installed
modern dairy equipment, including an electrically operated
refrigerator, bottle washer and capper. He was a director and vice
president of the Central Canning Company for nine years, and served
his township three years as supervisor and one year as
treasurer.
He was married May 7, 1901, to Miss
Catherine Engeldinger in Colby, by the Reverend C. B. Weikmann.
