William Richard Kenny was born at
Askeaton, Brown County, Wisconsin, March 15, 1892. Following the
death of his mother two years later, the family moved onto a farm
near Thorp, where Mr. Kenny received his education in both the
rural and high school. He taught school for three years. In 1913 he
completed a college business course and came to Marshfield,
securing a position in the office of P. J. Schaefer Company. A year
later he entered the employ of the Roddis Lumber and Veneer Company
as assistant bookkeeper. Later he advanced to the position of sales
manager of the company, which position he held until he entered the
service during the World War. Following the war he returned to the
Roddis Company, and became sales and production manager. In the
spring of 1921, due to poor health, Mr. Kenny resigned this
position and became local representative for a life insurance
company.
He was married in 1919 to Miss Monna Aker
of Rhinelander. Mr. and Mrs. Kenny have one daughter,
Kathryn.
Politically he is a Republican. He is a member of the William J. Lesselyong Post, American Legion; Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club, and the Elks. He is the past secretary and lecturer of the Knights of Columbus; past commander of the Legion Post; and now holds the position of secretary of the Rotary Club. His hobbies are athletic sports and playing cards.
