Edward Newman, son of Mrs. Gust Becken, route 1, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), and the father of five children, was found dead in his car early Monday morning at Richfield, Wis.  He died in his car sometime Sunday night of carbon monoxide poisoning.

According to Dr. James Albrecht, Jackson, Washington Co. coroner, Mr. Newman had been changing a tire on his car and is believed to have entered the car to warm up when he fell asleep.  A hub cap was found on the street near the car.

The car was parked in front of the Richfield Post Office when the body was found, and witnesses say that they saw the parked car with motor running at 10 p.m. Sunday, according to Dr. Albrecht.  The motor was still running at 6:30 Monday when the body was found by a passerby.

The deceased man’s family was living at the Howard Newman home, 714 S. Central Ave., until living quarters could be found in Milwaukee.  Mr. Newman had left Marshfield at 2 p.m. Sunday to return to his job in Milwaukee.

He is survived by his wife, Rose, and five children, Marie, 19, Chicago; Arlene, 14, twins, Donald and Donna, 8, and Karen, 1, all at home.

Mr. Newman is also survived by two brothers, Howard and Harris, both of Marshfield; two sisters, Mrs. Sherman Long, Milwaukee, and Mrs. George Olson, Manitowoc; his mother, Mrs. Gust Becken, route 1, Owen, and one step-brother and two step-sisters, all of Owen.

Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at two o’clock from Griebenow’s Funeral Home, Owen.  Rev. H. D. Wagner, pastor of the Alliance Chapel, officiated and burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were John Kongrigo, John Taylor, Herbert Thess, Lester Kallberg, Arvid Lindgren and Edmund Rohland.
