Standiford, Vivian (19 AUG 1953)

Shimmering satin with lace was the choice of Miss Vivian Standiford of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) for her bridal gown for her marriage to Robert Vesel, also of Greenwood, Wednesday morning, Aug. 19, 1953, at 9:30 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Greenwood.  The Rev. Edward Hartung, pastor, was the officiating clergyman.

The sculptured bodice was fashioned with a draped satin neckline edged with wide Chantilly lace.  Identical lace fell in cascades over the center sides of the skirt, which extended into a long train.

Her tiara of Satin encrusted with seed pearls held her lace trimmed imported illusion veil.  She carried a bouquet of white carnations centered with red roses and tied with satin ribbon from which were suspended streamers entwined with red roses.

Mrs. Gene Sowieja, West Allis, a sister of the groom, wore a shrimp colored frock in her roles as matron of honor.  The bodice had a separate jacket of lace with a tapered lace peplum falling over the frilly gathered net skirt.  Matching petal clips and gauntlets completed her ensemble and her bouquet consisted of white carnations centered with shrimp colored carnations.

Miss Patricia Reitz, Friendship, cousin of the bride, served as bridesmaid.  Her gown, styled like the matron of honor’s, was bud green as was the center of her bouquet.

Acting in the capacity of best man was Gene Sowieja, West Allis, brother-in-law of the groom, with Richard Standiford, Marinette, and Bernard Vesel, West Allis, brothers of the bride and groom, respectively.

Ushering for the occasion were Justin Standiford, Marinette, and Bernard Vesel, West Allis, brothers of the bride and groom, respectively.

Little Candy Standiford, Greenwood, was her sister’s flower girl.  Her dress was in yellow and was made like the other bridal attendants, and Kandy’s bouquet was a miniature replica of the bride’s.

The wedding breakfast was served at the home of the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. john Vesel, Greenwood, and the dinner and reception were held at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Standiford, also of Greenwood.

The Robert Vesels are making their home in Greenwood, where he is an employee of the john Wuethrich Creamery Co.  Mrs. Vesel is the first grade teacher in the Owen Public Schools.
