Juntunen, Charlie (3 JUL 1874 - 5 NOV 1953)
Charlie Juntunen, 79, was relieved of pain and suffering when eh passed away quietly Thursday evening, Nov. 5th, 1953 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley, where he had been a patient for two and one-half weeks. Prior to his admittance at the hospital he had been bedridden for a month and in failing health for the past three years.
He was born on July 3, 1874 in Finland, coming to America as a young man and settling near Sparta, Minn. In 1899. In 1914 he and his family moved to this community (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.) where he successfully pursued the vocation of farming and developed a prosperous farm in the Town of Hoard where he lived until 1948. The past five years he made his home in Owen but his retirement was impaired by failing health.
He is survived by three sons, Frank and John of Owen, and Everett of Cicero, Ill., and one daughter, Mrs. Earl "Elsie" Hanson of Neillsville, and five grandchildren.
His wife preceded him in death, passing away in 1942.
Funeral services were held at two o’clock Monday afternoon from Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Owen with Rev. Aukee officiating. Burial was made at the Riverside Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Charlie Kangas, Frank Maki, Wilho Mutka, Wm. Steinecke, Edward Bjorn and Victor Mattila. Ladies in charge of the floral offerings were Mesdames Arvid Lindgren, Wm. Steinecke, Edward Bjorn, Dan Anderson and Paul Bladl.
