Clifton, Sharon L. (12 DEC 1953)
Zion Lutheran Church of Stratford was the scene of the wedding Saturday afternoon of Miss Sharon Lucille Clifton and Eugene Walter Telschow, both of Stratford. During the 4 o’clock service performed by the Rev. Arlyn Adams, Mrs. Merlin Untiedt, Appleton, sang "The Twenty-Third Psalm" and "The Lord’s Prayer," accompanied by Mrs. Arthur Zuelke, organist.
The bride, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Clifton, Stratford, and formerly of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), chose a chapel length gown of white satin. A ruching of tulle outlined the sheer yoke of illusion. The bodice closed in back and the long sleeves tapered to points over the wrists. Alternate panels of tulle and Chantilly lace formed the full, billowy skirt. Seed pearls trimmed the white satin bandeau which secured the fingertip veil. Red roses and white mums, accented with green leaves, formed the bridal bouquet.
Identically styled gowns in shades of shrimp and blue were worn by the attendants. Shirred satin bodices topped the strapless gowns which were fashioned with bouffant skirts of net over satin. Satin roses were inset in the net ruffles of the skirts. Satin jackets with cap sleeves and matching net and satin headpieces completed the attire of the attendants. Crescent shaped bouquets of fall shades of mums, and holly leaves carried by the maid of honor and bridal aids.
Bridal attendants were her sister, Miss Sandra Clifton, Stratford, as maid of honor, and a sister of the groom, Miss Janet Telschow, also of Stratford, was bridesmaid.
Martin Marquardt, Stratford, was best man for the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Marquardt, Stratford. The groomsman was Eddy Wendt, Owen. Robert Hess, Athens, and Donald Telschow, Stratford, both cousins of the groom, were ushers.
Following the ceremony a reception and buffet supper were served in the church parlors to 115 guests.
Mrs. Clifton wore pink accessories with her mauve dress for her daughter’s wedding and Mrs. Marquardt wore a dress of navy blue. Both had corsages of mums and pompons pinned at their shoulders.
Brown accessories were worn with the bride’s tan going away suit. Wausau will be the home of the bridal couple who were graduated from the Stratford High School in ’53. The groom is employed at Lincoln-Mercury in Wausau and the bride is an employee of Employers Mutual.
Out of town guests were from Appleton, Madison, Milwaukee, Thorp, Withee, Owen, Watertown, Athens, Edgar, Janesville, Oshkosh and Rockford, Ill.
