Malakauskas, Anton (1877 - 19 DEC 1953)
Funeral services were conducted at 9:30 Tuesday morning from Griebenow’s Funeral Home for Anton Malakauskas with Fr. Crubel, pastor of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Edgar Wendt, Fritz Conrad, Ervin Zelm, J. Deltova, R. Klianga and R. Munson.
Malakauskas, 76, was found dead on a township roadside a mile west of Highway 73 early Saturday afternoon by Mrs. Clara Lukas, a neighbor, and a Lukas farmhand who had driven Malakauskas from his home to Highway 73 earlier in the day. Malakauskas told Mrs. Lukas he wanted to walk home after delivering two baskets which he produced for sale.
Clark County Coroner John Bergman and Undersheriff Ray Kutsche, after investigating the death, said there would be no inquest. Malakauskas was known to have heart trouble and his death was considered due to natural causes.
The deceased had lived with an unmarried brother, Mike Malakauskas, on a farm 9 miles northwest of Greenwood, since separation from his wife 20 years ago.
He is survived by three sons, Leo, Decatur, Ill., Tony, member of the Marine Corps, and John, address unknown.
