Withee, Wisconsin

There is a great deal of political talk round here at present and it will increase at the time for election approaches. People's political ideas to pretty much in the same direction--to republicanism. To the majority it would seem ridiculous for one to think that the nation will go democratic this fall. However, there may be a greater surprise in store for us than we anticipate. We must remember "The solid south."

Louis Sykhe who has been residing at Withee for several years has sold all his property and gone to the state of Washington. We wish him success in is new home.

Rasmus Andrsen was forced to kill one of his most valuable cows last week.

Miss Ethel Tufts was visiting friends and relatives here last week.

P. Sorenson of West Superior, a former merchant, is here looking after his land property. In a few days he will depart for that city and returned here with his family, where they will make it their future home.

Our postmaster, W. Tufts, had a narrow escape from drowning in the Black river last week. He undertook to cross it while it was up but was compelled to get out of the buggy and had a pretty hard struggle before reaching the other side.

D. Lund's new residence will soon be completed. It will be one of the finest buildings in town.

The new barn which C. R. Hansen is erecting in the place of the one which burned down, will soon be up.

The school trustees have elected Miss Thyra Nielsen for principal and Miss Smith for assistant in our school the coming year.

Mr. Jensen of Cedar Falls, Iowa, was here last week and bought a piece of land on which he will later build his future home.
