Nichols, Walter (7 JAN 1872 - 26 JUN 1954)

 

Walter Henry Nichols, 82, a pioneer resident of the Town of Hoard (Clark Co., Wis.) was laid to rest in the pine Hill Cemetery at Curtiss Wednesday afternoon.  Funeral services were held at two o’clock from Griebenow’s Funeral Home with Rev. H. D. Wagner officiating.  Serving as pallbearers were Norman Stewart, Orville Stewart, LeRoy Hanson, Floyd Hanson, Karl Buchholz and Robert Buchholz, all grandsons.

 

Mr. Nichols passed away suddenly but quietly at his home on the evening of Saturday, June 26th, 1954.  His death was attributed to complications of old age.

 

The deceased was born on Jan. 7, 1872 in Shawano Co., Wis.  Here he spent his boyhood.  As a young man he moved to Appleton where he met Henrietta Schroeder, whom he married on Feb. 5, 1895.  The couple resided in Appleton for seven years prior to moving to Owen where he settled on a farm in the Town of Hoard, where he has lived for the past 52 years.

 

He is survived by his widow, one sister, Amy Nichols of Green Bay, Wis., and six daughters, Mrs. Leona Buchholz, route 2, Owen; Mrs. Ruth Stewart, Cokato, Minn.; Mrs. Florence Hanson, Withee; Mrs. Blanche William, Blasdell, N.Y.; Mrs. Geneva Coenen, Appleton, and Mrs. Eleanore Wild of Stetsonville; three sons, Raymond of Tomah, Walter of Appleton and Earl of Owen, and three brothers, Joe of Florence, Wis., Robert and George of Green Bay.
