County News
Withee, Wisconsin
Andrew and Loren Andersen, accompanied by their sister, Miss Lettie, came to Withee last Saturday evening to visit their relatives.
Mr. Nielsen, a former milk man of Chicago, came to Withee with a car load of household goods, etc., last week. Although he never has been here before and only known of this country by other people's talk, still he has such faith in the future of this place that he sold out at Chicago, and will now buy himself a place, his future home. He expects his wife here in a few days.
Loren Nielsen's horse was badly cut on the wire fence Thursday night.
C. Funk, one of our merchants, is building two new houses in south Withee at present.
P. Sorenson of West Superior has made a contract with Andrew Smith to build him a brick house on his place north of Withee. This will be the first brick house outside the town. P. K. Petersen will deliver the bricks from the brick yard east of Withee.
Dr. Theo. Nielsen left with his two daughters for Chicago last Friday morning after three weeks' stay.
Post Nielsen's wife is dangerously ill at this writing. Dr. C. S. Nielsen, her son, who is attending her, thinks that she will recover.
P. K. Petersen brought two corn stalks to town Monday, raised on his farm, measuring eleven and eleven and one-half tall in height. Those who travel over the country will often see small fields of corn as fine as can be found anywhere. This indicates that the soil is as productive as any in the state and will give good interest to the owner if cultivated right.
A tract of 160 acres of land situated between Wm Husted's farm and the Black river, was sold last week to Johnson Bros. and Ammentork, all of Chicago. Price $1,000.00.
A. C. Nielsen and his men commenced on the new store building last Tuesday. It will be a one story structure.
Rasmus Andersen's daughter Agnes is at present very sick.
Houses are going up, but we need a church.
