Robinson, Bernice (10 May 1912 - 15 September 2009)

 

Bernice Robinson, 97, of Valley City, ND, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at Maryhill Manor at Enderlin, ND.

 

Bernice Altenburg Robinson, the daughter of Charles and Esabelle (Curtis) Altenburg, was born May 10, 1912, at Granton. She was baptized at the Methodist Church there.  In 1916 she came to Sanborn, ND, with her parents.  They lived on a farm south of Sanborn, and she attended school in Potter Township.  In 1937 Bernice went back to Neillsville where she met and married Emer A. Robinson.  He was an electrician and during the war worked for Dupont and defense plants, which took them to various states.  In 1945, after the war, they returned to Neillsville, where Emer did contract heating and plumbing with his brother, Glenn.  Emer died in 1963 of Parkinson’s disease, and Bernice went to work at the Medical Center in the dietary department, working there for 20 years.  Following her retirement in 1983, Bernice went on many senior tours.  In 1987 she moved to Valley City to be near her sister, Marie Gill.  Bernice liked to play cards at the Barnes County Seniors Center and enjoyed being with family on special days.

 

Bernice is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five sisters and four brothers.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 18, at the Lerud-Johnson-Schuldt Funeral Home with Wendell Kopperud officiating.  Visitation was from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.  Interment took place in Fairview Cemetery at Sanborn, ND, at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
