Zettler, Wilfred (1945? - 6 June
1954)
Wilfred Zettler, 9 years old, was fatally
injured in an accident on the farm of his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Alton Zettler, town of Johnson, Sunday morning. He and his brother,
Anthony, 12, were taking a storage battery to a pasture to provide
power for an electric fence. Wilfred sat in a front end manure
loader on a tractor which Anthony drove.
The bottom of the loader accidentally
tripped, according to Coroner John W. Hildensperger, spilling the
boy to the ground. Anthony stopped the tractor almost immediately,
but not before the bottom of the loader struck Wilfred. He died
almost instantly.
Wilfred was killed as he and a brother, Anthony, 12, were taking a storage battery to a pasture to provide power for an electric fence. Wilfred sat in a front-end manure loader of a tractor which Anthony drove.
He is survived by his parents and two
brothers, Anthony and Dale, and four sisters, Marlene, Doris,
Susan, and Carol, all at home; his paternal grand parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Zettler, Athens; and his maternal grand father, Frank
Wozniak, town of Halsey.
Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 9:00 o’clock, at St. John the Baptist, church at Wuerzburg, with the Rev. Jacob Burgraff officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
