Bucheger, Jerome "Jerry" (15 MAR 1953-31 AUG 2009)
Jerome "Jerry" Bucheger, 56, Woodstock (formerly of Crystal Lake), Ill., died on Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 3, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Crystal Lake, Ill. Interment will be private.
Jerome Bucheger was born on March 15, 1953, in Marshfield, to Edward and Louise (nee Von Drasck) Bucheger. On March 24, 1973, he married Judy M. Gardner in Greenwood. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1975, with a bachelor of science degree in psychology. Following college, he served in the United States Air Force foe nine years as a flight instructor on the T-38. He worked as a pilot for American Airlines for the past 24 years, and for the past 18 years, flew as a captain on the F100, 8737, B 767, and B 757 aircrafts. He enjoyed spending time with his family, flying, snowmobiling, working on cars, and enjoying life to the fullest.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Busheger, Woodstock, Ill.; his children, Justin (Amy) Bucheger, Crystal Lake, Ill., Adam (Kelly) Bucheger, Crystal Lake, Ill., and Mandy (Tyrus) DeJarnette, Savory, Ill.; four grandchildren; four brothers, David (Carol) Bucheger, Rothschild, Dennis (Darlene) Bucheger, Greenwood, Joe (Candi) Bucheger, Onalaska, and Jeff (Rose) Bucheger, Farmington, Minn.; and two sisters, Jackie (Ross) Fritz, North Powder, Ore.; and Judi (Noel) White, Cheney, Wash.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Memorials in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Suite 1200, Chicago, IL., 60601-7654.
