Bender, Emma (15 Sept.
1897 - 10 May 1955)
Funeral services for Mrs.
George Bender, 57, who died Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at her home,
after a lingering illness will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 at
Christ Lutheran church. The remains were brought to the Bender home
this noon and will lie in state until time for services.
Mrs. Bender was born Emma
Guse, Sept. 15, 1897, in Rock county and received her education in
schools there. She was married Aug. 19, 1916, to George Bender, at
Town Center, Rock county. The couple moved to a farm near Colby in
1922 and came to their present home in Abbotsford in 1942.
Mrs. Bender is survived
by her husband; two sons, Henry, Spencer; Melvin, Dorchester; three
daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Florence) Denzine, Medford; Mrs. Eldred
(Avenelle) Empey, Abbotsford; Mrs. Orville (Virginia) Koehn,
Schofield; 17 grand children; two brothers, Otto Guse, Evansville;
and Arthur Guse, Janesville; and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Rook,
Janesville, and Mrs. Corwin Cline, Baraboo.
Preceding her in death
were a son, Myron, who died in infancy, and a brother, Harry
Guse.

On Friday afternoon, the
funeral services for Mrs. George Bender, 57, who died Tuesday, were
held at Christ Lutheran church, Abbotsford, at 1:30 o’clock.
The Rev. F. H. Sprengler conducted the services during which the
Misses Dorothy and Marilyn Kieser sang "Rock of Ages," and "The Old
Rugged Cross."
Pallbearers for the
internment, which was made in the Colby cemetery, were Elmer
Hammann, Athens; Ben Merwin, Carl Morrow, Otto Muehler, Clarence
Miller and Einar Olson, of Abbotsford.
The flowers were carried
by the Misses Beverly and Darlene Denzine, grand daughters, of
Medford; Miss Eldora Gutenberger, Colby; the Misses Carol Amacher,
Shirley and Beverly Daenicke, of Abbotsford.
Relatives attending the funeral came from Janesville, Baraboo, Richland Center, Madison, and Beloit.
