Hartzell, Winnefred (24 Mar. 1908 - 22 Feb. 1956)  
 

Mrs. Robert W. Hartzell, 47, died at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, Wednesday night at 10:10 o’clock, after a recurrence of a previous illness. 
 

The body will lie in state at the Zink Funeral home here, Saturday afternoon and evening, and will be taken to Chippewa Falls where it will be at a funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening. 
 

Funeral services will be held at Notre Dame Catholic church, Monday morning and internment will be in the family lot in a cemetery at Chippewa Falls.  
 

A requiem high mass will be sung at St. Bernard’s Catholic church, here, Monday morning.

The funeral mass for Mrs. Robert W. Hartzell, who died Feb. 22 at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, was held Monday morning at Notre Dame church at Chippewa Falls at 9:00 o’clock with internment following in the family lot at Mount Hope cemetery. 
 

Pallbearers were Robert Bogaard, Clarence Dolan, George Vetter and Robert Janda, Abbotsford, and Joseph Monpas and A. H. Reiter, Jim Falls. 
 

The body lay in state at Abbotsford at the Zink Funeral Home where a rosary service was held Friday evening. A requiem high mass was sung at St. Bernard’s Catholic church on Monday morning at 7:45. 
 

On Sunday, the remains were taken to Chippewa Falls to the La Frania-Burkhart Funeral Home where a rosary service was held that evening.  
 

Mrs. Hartzell was born Winefred Rooney, March 24, 1908, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emmet Rooney, Chippewa Falls. She attended Notre Dame grade school and McDonell high school in Chippewa Falls and the Eau Claire and  La Crosse State Teachers Colleges. She taught at Spooner for seven years prior to her marriage to Robert W. Hartzell which took place at Chippewa Falls on Sept. 1936. Mrs. Hartzell also taught in Abbotsford and schools in Clark and Marathon counties.  
 

She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic church and the Catholic Altar Society, the Northwest Teachers Association and the Wisconsin Educational Association.  
 

Mrs. Hartzell is survived by her husband and five children, Suzanne, 18, Robert Jr., 15, Mary Wyn, 10, James, 6, and Richard, 5, all at home.  
 

Also surviving are her mother, Mrs. Catherine Rooney, a brother, John, of Chippewa Falls, and a brother, Charles, of Eau Claire. Her father and one brother preceded her in death.
