COLBY -- William F. Roth, 74, retired
Colby postal clerk, died unexpectedly of a heart attack while down
town Saturday afternoon. A lifetime resident of this area, Mr. Roth
was also a farmer and blacksmith. He was employed by the post
office department for 11 years, retiring about four years
ago.
Mr. Roth was born at Colby Feb. 27, 1882,
and married Linda Wendel at Spencer on Aug. 31, 1904. They lived on
a farm in the town of Hull for several years after their marriage,
moving to Colby 26 years ago.
Mr. Roth was a charter member of the
Abbotsford local of the American Federation of Musicians. He played
with various dance bands and with the Tri-City band and for 12
years he played with Emil and his band.
Surviving him are his wife and four children, Floyd, Chicago; Roland and Mrs. W. G. (Irene) Danielson, both of Abbotsford; and Mrs. E. J. (Norma) Schmidt, Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. Two sisters, Mrs. Fred Bracken and Mrs. George Jorgensen, both of Chicago, also survive.
