Winchell, Mary Ida (13 June 1886 - 17
Aug. 1956)
Mrs. Joel Winchell, 70, died Friday night
at her home in Dorchester after a two-month illness. Death was
attributed to cancer.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m.
Monday at the Salem Evangelical United Brethren church. The Rev.
Harold Welch officiated and burial was made in Memorial Cemetery.
The former Mary Ida Tischendorf was born
June 13, 1886, in Germany, and married Mr. Tischendorf Sept. 9,
1908, at Salem Evangelical United Brethren church. After their
marriage, they farmed near Dorchester for 14 years and then moved
to the village. For a number of years both had worked for a
carnival company. Mrs. Winchell was a member of the Busy
Homemaker’s Club.
She is survived by her husband, four children, Albert, Merrill; Ernest, Dorchester; Mrs. George (Margaret) Johnson, Chicago and Mrs. Melvin (Irene) Atzen, Abbotsford; two sisters, Mrs. George (Martha) Dahl, Ogema and Mrs. Ed (Rose) Leichtnam, Abbotsford; and eight grand children. Two brothers, William and Robert, preceded her in death.
