Strebe, Abe Lee (5 June 1885 - 12 Oct. 1956)  
 

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Richard Harrison in the Presbyterian church here at 2:30 p.m. Sunday for Abe Lee Strebe, 71, retired mail carrier, who died Oct. 12, at the Havenet Nursing Home at Owen. Burial was made in the Abbotsford cemetery.  
 

Pallbearers were Allan, Dale, Jerry, Kenneth, Kit, and Russell Strebe, all grandsons.  
 

Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Kenneth Strebe, Mrs. Matt Broun, Mrs. Robert Kilty, Mrs. Harold Goeldon, Judy Strebe and Nancy Rindfleisch.  
 

Out of town persons who attended the rites included Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Strebe, Madison; Frank Strebe, Robert Strebe, Earl Strebe, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Strebe and Mrs. Kenneth Morey, all of Sheridan, Mrs. Karl Damrow, Amherst; Mrs. Mary Junod, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Garrow and Ruth, Ogema; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hart, Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Carlson, Port Edwards; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Tuxhara, Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Broun, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bergman, Athens; Mr. and Mrs. Eldred Strebe, Kit and Judy, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kilty, Clyde Strebe, Jerry Strebe, Dale Strebe, Russell Strebe, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Lenhard, Allan Strebe, Athens; and Mr. and Mrs. William Rindfleisch, Nancy and Billy, Spencer. 
 

Mr. Strebe was born Jan. 5, 1885, in Marathon county’s town of Holton, where he farmed until 1939. For the next 13 years, he was a rural carrier at Fairchild, Marshfield, and Wausau. He retired in 1954. He had been residing at the Owen nursing home the past six months.  
 

He was a school board member for several years and a member of the Presbyterian church.  
 

He was married Sept. 30, 1906, in the town of Holton, to Libbie Bell Moore, who preceded him in death on May 13, 1953. 
 

Survivors include two sons, Clyde Strebe, Route 3, Marshfield; Eldred Strebe, Wausau; two daughters, Mrs. Edgar (Laura) Lenhard, Route 2, Athens; Mrs. William (Ethel) Rindfleisch, Route 2, Spencer; 17 grand children; three great grand children; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude McIntyre, Clear Lake, Wash.; Mrs. Frank (Ida) Provinski, Abbotsford; and three brothers, George, Wyoming; Frank, Sheridan; and Purl, Livingston, N.J.  
 

One brother preceded him in death.
