Carlson, Charles (27 Jan. 1864 - 6 Jan. 1954) 
 

Charles Carlson, 89, died Wednesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mark Gore, Turlock, Calif. He suffered a second stroke on New Year’s day and lapsed into a coma. 
 

Arvid Carlson and son, Herbert, left by train from Minneapolis, Sunday evening, and arrived there at 6:00 a.m., two hours before his father’s death occurred. 
 

Funeral arrangements have not been completed at this time. 
 

Mr. Carlson was born in Sweden, Jan. 27, 1864, and married there. He came to America about 1890 and lived in Illinois and Wisconsin. After about five years, the mother and the two sons, Albin and Tony, joined him here and lived at Spencer. Some time later, they moved to the farm now owned by Arvid Carlson. 
 

Mr. and Mrs. Carlson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in California and the following year, Mrs. Carlson died and was buried in California. Mr. Carlson continued to live there alone for a few years and then spent four and one-half years here with his son, Arvid, and family. In 1950, he went back to California to live with his daughter. 
 

He was preceded in death by two infant daughters. A son, Joseph, died in 1935, and Mrs. Carlson died in 1938. 
 

He is survived by three sons, Arvid, of Abbotsford; Tony, now at Madison; Albin, of Minneapolis; and a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Alma) Gore, at Turlock, Calif., Route 1, Box 356. 
 

There are 20 grand children, six in each of the Arvid and Albin Carlson families, seven in the Tony Carlson family and one in the Gore family.

The funeral of Charles Carlson, of Turlock, Calif., formerly of Abbotsford, was held Monday afternoon, Jan. 11 at 2:00 o’clock at Norton’s Funeral Home at Turlock. Burial was made at Hilman cemetery, beside the remains of his wife, who died in May, 1938. 
 

The pallbearers were Carl Nelson, Arvid Fransen, David Lindgren, Arvid Lundell, Henry Lundell, and Peter Johnson. 
 

Mr. Carlson was born July 27, 1864, and attained the age of 89 years, five months, and ten days. His death came after a second stroke, suffered on New Year’s day. 
 

He is survived by three sons, Arvid, Tony, and Albin, one daughter, Mrs. Mark (Alma) Gore, 20 grand children, 24 great grand children, and two great great grand children. 
 

His son, Arvid Carlson, and family, had spent most of June, last year, visiting with him and with relatives at the home of his daughter, Alma, Mrs. M. J. Gore.
