Hamm, Frank A. (18 JUL 1886 - 28 AUG 1954)

Frank Anton Hamm, retired farmer, died at his home near Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.), died at his home near Dorchester shortly before 10 o’clock Saturday morning of a gunshot wound which Clark County authorities said was self inflicted.  He was 68 years of age.

Hamm had been in ill health the past several weeks, according to Sheriff Frank Dobes and Coroner John Bergemann, Neillsville, who investigated the shooting.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church with Rev. Harold Welch officiating.  Burial was made in the Pine Hill Cemetery at Curtiss.

Mr. Hamm was born July 18, 1886, in the town of Holway, where he received his education.  As a young man, he worked as a woodsman and later came to a farm in the town of Hoard, where he farmed for 42 years.

On June 25, 1908 he was married to Hattie Perlberg at Hurley.  The couple retired and moved to Dorchester, Aug. 8, 1950.

Mr. Hamm is survived by his wife; four sons, William Hamm, Medford; Frank Hamm, Jr., Curtiss, Henry Hamm, Milwaukee, and Edward Hamm, Owen; three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Hannah) Rahn and Mrs. Ernest (Adeline) Neitzel, Curtiss, and Mrs. Elmer (Amelia) Neitzel, town of Holway; a brother, Fred Hamm, Owen; two sisters, Ella Taylor, Illinois, and Anna Wagner, West Bend, and 18 grandchildren.

Two sisters, Amanda and Edith and a brother, William, preceded him in death.

The body will lie in state at the Fuchsgruber Funeral Home until one hour before the services.
