Geiger, Doris Elaine (Marriage - 9 Feb. 1955)

Mr. and Mrs. Dean Charles Witte are now at home to friends in Abbotsford. Their marriage took place Wednesday, Feb. 9.

The bride, the former Doris Elaine Geiger, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Geiger, Abbotsford, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Witte, Colby. The groom is employed at the Welcome Cheese Factory, Colby.

Marriage vows were exchanged at St. Bernard’s rectory, Abbotsford, Wednesday morning at 9:30. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Raymond Schulz.

Attending the couple were the bride’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hanne, Colby; Miss Maryln Fitzel, Colby, and Woodrow Schmutzler, Jr., Riplinger, cousins of the groom. Mr. Hanne, the best man, is also an uncle of the groom.

The bride wore a gown of white embroidered nylon net over satin designed with a scoop neckline and long sleeves ending in points over the wrist. Ruffled embroidered nylon net detailed the bouffant, floor length skirt. She wore a double strand pearl necklace and earrings, and a pearl tiara held her lace edged finger tip veil. The bridal bouquet was an arrangement of red roses and white carnations.

Mrs. Hanne, in orchid net, and Miss Fitzel, in aqua, had frocks made alike with lace inserts in the fitted bodice and a flower adorning the skirt. They carried colonial bouquets of white and matching carnations and wore matching pleated net head bands.

Following the ceremony, dinner and supper were served at the home of the bride’s parents. In the evening, they greeted their friends at a wedding dance at Cherokee hall.
