Hoff, Joe M. (15 Jan. 1880 - 1 Sept.
1955)
Funeral services for Joe M. Hoff, 75, who
died Thursday, were held at the Zink Funeral Home. Rosary services
were held there Sunday evening at 7:30 and the Rev. Raymond B.
Schulz conducted services at 10:30 Monday morning, after which
internment was made in the Abbotsford cemetery.
Pall bearers were Erwin Bitter, Gus
Brechlin, F. A. Haack, Ben Merwin, George Stump and Otto
Will.
The flowers were carried by four nieces
of the deceased.
Joe M. Hoff was born Jan. 15, 1880 in the
Town of Little Black, Taylor county and attended Liberty School
District No. 3 there. He came to Abbotsford more than 30 years ago
and had a photography and later, archery business. In gardening
time, Mr. Hoff operated a green house and had vegetable and flower
plants.
Mr. Hoff underwent major surgery in
February and again the week before he died. Death occurred at 8:15
p.m. on Sept. 1 at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, where
he had been a patient since Aug. 4.
Surviving are three brothers, Nicholas,
Stetsonville, Henry, Appleton, and George, Abbotsford; and three
sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Adams, Milwaukee, Mrs. Alice Evenson, Oshkosh
and Mrs. Lucy Pueschner, Stetsonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
a younger brother and sister. Another sister, Mrs. Al Hackman, of
Kingsley, Mich., died almost four years ago.
Attending the rites were all the brothers and sisters. Among the relatives were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lambert and daughter, Chippewa Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Hoff and family, Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Jack McCorison, Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stoltenberg and family, Wittenberg, Mrs. Lawrence Boardman and son, Thorp, George Hoff and Mrs. Helen Storch and sons, Stetsonville.
