McDonald, Robert D (9 April 1946 - 23 September 2009)
Robert D. McDonald, 63, of Wisconsin Rapids died early Wednesday morning, Sept. 23, 2009, at his residence.
Robert was born April 9,
1946, in Champaign, IL, to Francis and Gladys (Bishop)
McDonald. He married Donna Aron Feb. 14, 1984, in Las Vegas,
NV.
He was employed as an over-the-road truck driver for Steve R. Knoop Trucking and Dairyland Transport. While working for Dairyland, he was selected out of many drivers to represent the company in a truck rodeo and took first place.
Robert loved driving truck
and took pride in being a safe driver. While in between runs, he
enjoyed spending precious time with his wife, Donna and
occasionally golfing or bowling. Robert was known for his
great sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; three children, Sheri (Scott) Hale and Barbara (Kevin) Hale of Neillsville and Jason (Christina) McDonald of Buford, GA; two stepchildren, Teresa Jenkins of Peoria, AZ, and Rick (Janice) Robinson of Pittsville; six grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Kala and Tara Hale and Ashley and Jaycee McDonald; four step-grandchildren, Julian and Emalyn Jenkins and Brendan and Michael Robinson; two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Elijah Hale; three brothers: David (Donna) McDonald and Larry (Ellie) McDonald of Neillsville and Gary (Charlene) McDonald of Marshfield; and special friends, Don and Judy Smith of Wisconsin Rapids.
He was preceded in death by
his parents and an infant sister, Pamela.
Funeral services were held at
11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at Saratoga Moravian Church with
visitation at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home from 4 p.m.
to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of services at the
church. Rev. Olaf Andersen officiated. Burial was in Pioneer
Cemetery.
