Richard R. Grajek, age 76, of Manitowoc, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. 
 

Richard was born on January 22, 1933, in Lublin, son of the later Anton and Anna (Kwiatkowski) Grajek.  He attended school in Lublin and graduated with the class of 1950 from Gilman High School. Richard helped on the family farm until he was drafted into the U. S. Army in April of 1953, serving in Korea and Japan until his honorable discharge in April of 1955.  He met the love of his life and married the former Rosemarie Tadych on June 27, 1959, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Manitowoc.  She preceded him in death on December 13, 2008.  He worked from 1957 until 1977 for Household Finance.  In 1977, Richard started with Manitowoc County Bank, which later became Firstar Bank, retiring from there in 1993. After one year of retirement, he went to work for the La-Tec Financial Credit Union in New Holstein, and at the age of 74, in 2007, decided to retire for good.  Richard is a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton.  He is a 26-year member of the Manitowoc Eagles Club, Viking Bow & Gun Club, and the T. P. A. 
 

Richard is survived by his children: Susan (John) Dondlinger, Manitowoc, Shelly Moffatt, Green Bay, and Anthony (Lisa) Grajek, Manitowoc; grandchildren: Joe and Tony Dondlinger, Manitowoc, Jesse and Zachary Moffatt, Green Bay, and Richard and Jennifer Grajek, Manitowoc; sister, Carol Pawlicki, Thorp; brother, Leonard Grajek, West Allis; and brother-in-law, Paul Tadych, Cedar Grove.  Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.   
 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Anne Grajek; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Paul and Marie Tadych; sister-in-law, Marilyn Tadych; and brother-in-law, Ray Pawlicki. 
 

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2009, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Hwy 42, Newton.  Rev. Gerald Foley will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Relatives and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will take place in the church cemetery. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the Grajek Family. 
 

I have lived a full life and am now in heaven with my wife along with other relatives and friends.  Remember that tears will fade and dry up but memories live forever. Farwell to all.
