Funeral
services for William Peter, who died Monday, were held Wednesday
afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at Christ Lutheran church, after
which internment was made in the town of Frankfort cemetery. The
Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiated at the services during which the
Misses Dorothy and Marilyn Kieser sang "Beneath the Cross of
Jesus," and "The Lord Is My Shepherd."
William
Peter was born at Warsaw, Poland, March 18, 1881, and came to
Chicago in 1907. The same year he was married to Mrs. Anna Braun.
Three sons and one daughter were born to the union. Mrs. Peter died
in 1929.
His second
marriage took place on April 25, 1937, when he and Mrs. Ida
Stallman were united in marriage in the town of Frankfort. They
then came to Abbotsford to make their home. She preceded him in
death, June 13, 1954.
Mr. Peter
had been in ill health for some time and was a patient at St.
Joseph’s hospital until a few days before his death when he
was taken to Mount View Sanatorium, Wausau.
Surviving him are two sons, Reinhold Peter, Beaver Dam; and Paul Peter, Chicago; and a step-son, Hugo Schafrick, of Stratford. There are eight grand children and two great grand children.
