Stowe,
Raland (24 Aug. 1931 - 14 May 1956)
Funeral
rites for Forrest E. Stowe, 48, Minneapolis, one of three men
killed in a two car collision Sunday, near Detroit Lakes, Minn.,
were held here Thursday morning at the Zink Funeral Home, at 10:00
a.m.
The Rev.
Richard Harrison, of the Presbyterian church, officiated with
burial following in the Abbotsford cemetery.
Other
victims of the traffic accident were his son, Raland, 24,
Minneapolis, his brother, Owen E. Stowe, Stevens Point, and Walter
J. Dambkowski, driver of the other car. The Stowes were en route to
Harrison, Idaho, to visit the older men’s father, who was
ill.
Final rites
for Raland Stowe were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the
Washburn-McGreavy Funeral Home, Minneapolis, with military
graveside rites at the Ft. Snelling cemetery. Services for Owen E.
Stowe have been set for 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Rosenow-Moore
Funeral Home at Stevens Point.
Forrest
Stowe was born in the town of Beaver, Clark county, Feb. 29, 1908,
and received his education in Abbotsford schools. He married Helen
Fink here June 4, 1930. They moved to Minneapolis in 1942, residing
at 329 Sixth Street, S.E. While living in this vicinity, he was
employed as a truck driver for a milk company. He worked for the
General Metalware Company in Minneapolis.
Surviving
him are his wife, a daughter, Gloria, 9, and a grand daughter,
Sharon, all of Minneapolis; his father, George Stowe, and brother,
Maurice, both of Harrison, Idaho; and a sister, Mrs. Mabel
Woempner, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Raland Stowe was born in the town of Beaver Aug. 24, 1931, and attended grade school here. He was in the army for three years, serving in Korea for 22 months. He married Shirley Tobeck July 16, 1955, at Minneapolis. She and their daughter, Sharon Kay, also survive him.
