Mary Scheel was named valedictorian of the graduating class of 1956. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred E. Scheel, Abbotsford.  
 

Mary attended the Abbotsford grade school for four years and the Eau Claire grade school for three years. The past four years she has attended the Abbotsford high school. 
 

During grade school she was a member of the Girl Scouts for three years. 
 

In high school she has participated in Library Club, Drops of Ink, the school paper; and she was on the Annual staff. She was named the editor of the Abhiscan as a senior. She was chosen as class treasurer of her class for the year 1955-1956. She was elected a representative of the Student Council for the same year. She was elected secretary-treasurer of the Student Council that year also. 
 

Recently she was chosen, along with 12 others from the school who are outstanding in different fields, to attend an Elks Club banquet at Marshfield. She was chosen as the outstanding student in the field of mathematics.
