Wanda Lee Prough was named the salutatorian of
the graduating class of 1956 at Abbotsford high school. She is the
older daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Prough of
Athens.
Wanda attended the Jerseyville grade school at
Jerseyville, Illinois, for three years and then moved, with her
parents, to a farm near Athens. She then attended the Dixon school,
from which she was graduated and has attended the Abbotsford high
school the past four years.
While in high school, Wanda has been active in cheer leading and forensics for four years. She went to the state forensic contest at Madison during her junior year and received a B rating on her humorous declamation. She was named the alternate to Badger Girl’s State as a junior and received the Northland College honor key. She was also in the junior class play. She has been active in music in school as well as out. Her pantomimes are quite well known in Abbotsford and surrounding territories.
