Harold Hardrath, 93, Owen died Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the Colonial Center in Colby.
His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7,
2009 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. The Rev. Dr.
Paul C. Hunsicker will preside. Burial will follow in Riverside
Cemetery in the town of Hixon with military honors being conducted.
The visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on
Wednesday at the funeral home in Owen. Serving as his pallbearers
will be grandchildren.

OWEN -- Harold Hardrath, 93, of Owen died
Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at the Colonial Center, in
Colby.
His
funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at the
Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Burial will follow in
Riverside Cemetery in the town of Hixon with military honors being
conducted. The visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of
service Wednesday at the funeral home in Owen.
Harold was born Nov. 9, 1915, in the town of
Green Grove in Clark County the son of Herman and Elsa (Lange)
Hardrath.
He
attended Elmwood School in the town of Green Grove and graduated
from the eighth-grade. Following his education, Harold worked as a
cheese-maker in Melon and for Harvey Mandel in
Unity.
Harold entered the Army and served his country
during World War II and was assigned to infantry operating the
155mm Howitzer. After his honorable discharge, Harold began dairy
farming in the town of Green Grove.
He
married the former Dorthaleen Edwards in Colby on Aug. 31,
1949.
He
is survived by his wife Dorthaleen of Owen, his children: Luanne
Schwarze of Unity; Glen (LuAnn) Hardrath of Unity; 11 grandchildren
and eight great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two
brothers: Howard Hardrath and Halbert (Margie) Hardrath both of
Atlanta.
