Meske, Herman (20 November 1880 - 28 September
1952)
Herman Meske, 71, of 1102 Emery Street, died at
the Neillsville Hospital, Sunday morning following an illness of
three years. He entered the hospital Saturday
afternoon.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday at 2
o’clock at the Georgas Funeral Home, with the Rev. Virgil
Nulton officiating. Interment was made in the Neillsville
City Cemetery.
Mr.
Meske was born November 20, 1880, in Jefferson County to August and
Augusta (Zimdom) Meske. He received his rural education in
Jefferson County and came here with his parents at the age of 21.
They settled in the Town of Weston. On April 15, 1914, he was
married to Minnie Finder at Christie. They farmed in and around
Christie after their marriage and moved to Neillsville in
1918. He was employed by the American Stores Dairy Company
for 14 years and had been employed at various jobs since that
time.
He
is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Walter
(Ella) Holtz, Mrs. Bernard (Bertha) Grottke of Neillsville; Albert
Meske of Marshfield and Mabel at home; also seven grandchildren,
one brother, August Meske of Madison; four sisters, Mrs. Fred
(Esther) Voss of Madison, Mrs. Victory (Carrie) Kypke of Marshall,
Mrs. William (Bertha) Wolff and Mrs. William (Manda) Grossman of
Waterloo, Wis.
Four sisters, Elsie, Anna, Lizzie and Ella, and one brother, Robert preceded him in death.
