Baker, Gertrude (15 July 1881 - 12 October
1952)
Mrs. James Baker, 71, of Granton died at her home
there on Friday following a stroke.
Funeral services were conducted at the Gilbertson
Funeral Home on Monday with interment in the Windfall Cemetery. The
Rev. Virgil Nulton officiated.
Mrs. Baker was born Gertrude Downer on July 15,
1881, in the Town of York. She received her education in the
Windfall School. She was married on March 19, 1902, to James Baker
in the Town of York at the George Rosemeyer home by Justice of the
Peace John P. Kintzele. She had lived the past 52 years at
her present home.
She
is survived by her husband, one son, Donald Baker of Eau Claire,
and one granddaughter, four brothers and one sister, Albion Downer
and Dick Downer of the State of Washington, Frank Downer of the
Town of York, Neil Downer of Granton and Mrs. Roy (Bessie)
Wright. One brother, Joel, preceded her in
death.
Pallbearers were Wendell Crothers, Jack Crothers,
Glen Lavey, Otto Schmidtke, Martin Garbisch, and Louie
Pacholke.
Mrs. William Schmidtke and Mrs. Ora Beeckler sang two selections, accompanied by Mrs. Vera Crandall.
