Ayer, Elaine Jeanette  (07 JULY 1946)

Miss Elaine Jeanette Ayer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ayer of route one Spencer, became the bride of Owen Dale Hanson son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hanson of route two, Colby , in a wedding ceremony read in Zion Evangelical Lutheran church in Colby.

The Rev. O. Hoffman performed the double ring service at 4 p.m. on June 22, before an altar banked with lighted candelabra and baskets of white gladiolas and peonies.

Miss Jeanette Setzal sang "I Love You Truly" at the beginning of the service and completed the ceremony by singing "The Lord’s Prayer"

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white silk taffeta with net overskirt ending in a train. Her finger-tip veil was caught to pearlized orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet composed of red roses and white swansonia tied with a satin ribbon and a handkerchief which her mother had carried on her wedding day.

Maid of honor was Elaine Johnson of Unity, a close friend of the bride, who wore white frothy marquisette over satin dress and a white blusher veil. The bridesmaid, Darlene Hanson of Colby, sister of the groom, wore a gown of white net over satin and a white blusher veil. Both the maid of honor and bridesmaid carried bouquets of red roses and white sweet peas.

The groom’s attendants were Eldor Hanson of Colby, brother of the groom, best man, and Eugene Zienske of Antigo, cousin of the groom, groomsman. The groom and his attendants wore brown suits and white carnation boutonieres.

Both mothers viewed the wedding in black suit dresses and white accessories. They wore shoulder corsages composed of red roses, ferns and white satin ribbons.

A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents at 7 p.m., with 30 guests in attendance. The house was trimmed with white streamers and white wedding bells. A large wedding cake and white candles centered the table.

A wedding dance was given at Colby in the evening.

The bride was a graduate of the Unity high school with the class of 1946. The groom received his honorable discharge from the army on Dec. 18, 1945, after serving for 3 ½ years, three spent in the south Pacific theater of operations. He is now employed as a cheesemaker in the town of Hull, Marathon county.

For going away, the bride wore a cocoa brown suit and brown accessories. A wedding trip was spent in northern Wisconsin and Canada.

The Loyal Tribune joins their many friends in wishing them a long and happy journey through life.
