Vázquez, Frank (23 November 1946 - 8 October 2009)

 
By Peter Spicer - Longtime Clark County Corporation Counsel Frank Vázquez passed away Thursday, Oct. 8, at his Neillsville home.

Vázquez, 62, had served as the county corporation counsel since 1990.

Clark County District Attorney Darwin Zwieg worked with Vázquez for years and recognized his work as corporation counsel.

 
"We always had a good working relationship," said Zwieg, who explained he was shocked to learn of Vázquez’s passing.

As corporation counsel, Vázquez was the county’s civil attorney and was available to the County Board of Supervisors and all departments to assist them with legal problems and, if necessary, represent them or the county in court to ensure the county’s best interests and needs were served, according to Clark County’s Web site.

The county corporation counsel’s mission is "to provide civil legal counsel and advice to the county board and county agencies."

 
The county corporation counsel is responsible for the balance of the county’s legal work.  The Clark County Executive Committee was slated to discuss and possibly take action on the vacant corporation counsel position at its Wednesday, Oct. 14, meeting.

 
Vázquez was a "fellow well met," according to Zwieg, who described Vázquez as helpful, a friend and a competent attorney.
