Betty L. Rueth, 79, of Loyal died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Betty Lou Mathews was born March 7, 1930, in Humbird, the daughter of Isaac and Phyllis (Wincentsen) Mathews. She was raised and received her education in Humbird until 1942, at which time her family moved to Loyal. After completing her education, Betty was united in marriage to Leonard Rueth May 29, 1948, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal. She was a homemaker and farmwife and raised her six children on their farm. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Betty was a very active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and its PCCW, a member of the Red Hat Society, a member of the Loyal Senior Citizens and was a former member of the Clark County Homemakers. She had many interests but especially loved spending time with her family, traveling, cooking baking, sewing, crossword puzzles, playing cards and cribbage.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Leonard of Loyal; six children: Diane Courtney (Bill Neville) of Neillsville, Andy Rueth of Neillsville, Debbie (Mike) Carew of Green Bay, Jeff (Tamara) Rueth of Spring, TX, Tim (Jodi) Rueth of Neillsville and Rebecca (David) Scherer of Loyal; 12 grandchildren: Darrell (Penny), Kevin (Marcy), Natasha, Shawn, Dena, Chad, Jessica, Kelsey, Krista, Karter, Brody and Leah; seven great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Morgan, Rylee, Claire, Matthew, Johnathan and Ian; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter-in-law, Tracey Rueth; one brother, Roger Mathews; and one sister, Irene Richmond.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in
Loyal with visitation at Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, Friday, Oct.
9, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, and
again at the funeral home Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15
a.m. Father Jerome Naduvathaniyil officiated, and burial
followed in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Darrell Courtney, Kevin
Courtney, Dena Paulson, Dr. Natasha Rueth, Shawn Rueth and Chad
Rueth.
